Established by Weathered Souls Brewing of San Antonio, TX, Black is Beautiful was envisioned as “A collaborative effort to raise awareness for the injustices people of color face daily and raise funds for police brutality reform and legal defenses for those who have been wronged.”

The vision of Locust Lane has been to set aside a portion of 4-pack sales of our Black is Beautiful Stout to go towards the Locust Lane Craft Brewery Black is Beautiful Scholarshp Fund, awarded annually to local African American High School Seniors pursuing further education.

Our 2024 Black is Beautiful is a limited edition release featuring artwork by local artist and teacher, Brian Hearns of LivnSol (Downingtown, PA). The piece was carefully selected from his collection titled "Beautiful Nubian".

Brian has been an inaugural partner in this initiative as a board member, as well as a vast supporter.
2024 APPLICATION INFORMATION​
The deadline for applications to be submitted is March 31, 2024.
Title: Locust Lane Craft Brewery Black is Beautiful Scholarship

Eligibility: Graduating African-American Seniors attending a 2 or 4 year college, or Trade School
​
Requirements: 500 word essay: “What role can higher education play in addressing the social injustices facing our society?”
​
Timing: Applications must be submitted to jason@locustlanecraftbrewery.com by March 31, 2024.
Recipients will be selected on April 30, 2024.
Awards: Three (3) $1,000 scholarships
Applications Must Include: Student's Name, Address, Cell Phone, Email, Current High School & a 500 word essay (pdf, word, pages, etc.)
